Yay - the library had the next book, so I'm happily reading Dawn on a Distant Shore now. :)
When I ran downtown to the library last night, Alex came with me and we stopped by the music store so he could look for a strap for his guitar. Alley Cat Music is a small, local shop, frequented by local musicians. When my coworker helped me pick out a guitar, he worked out a deal there, wanting to bring them business. Very friendly bunch. Anyway, we also looked at music. They were down on their inventory due to Christmas and mostly have guitar music, but a little bit of piano, too. So I was looking through it - mostly large compilation books - and way at the top noticed piano sheet music to Billy Joel's Lullabye. This is the song that Sean's mom picked to play at her funeral for Sean, me, and the kids. To understand how much this song made me cry at the funeral, you have to read the lyrics:
Goodnight, my angel
Time to close your eyes
And save these questions for another day
I think I know what you've been asking me
I think you know what I've been trying to say
I promised I would never leave you
And you should always know
Wherever you may go
No matter where you are
I never will be far away
Goodnight, my angel
Now it's time to sleep
And still so many things I want to say
Remember all the songs you sang for me
When we went sailing on an emerald bay
And like a boat out on the ocean
I'm rocking you to sleep
The water's dark and deep
Inside this ancient heart
You'll always be a part of me
Lu-lu-lu-lu-lu-lu
lu-lu-lu-lu-lu-lu-lu-lu-lu
Goodnight, my angel
Now it's time to dream
And dream how wonderful your life will be
Someday your child may cry
And if you sing this lullabye
Then in your heart
There will always be a part of me
Someday we'll all be gone
But lullabyes go on and on...
They never die
That's how you
And I
Will be
So, of course I had to buy it and I went home and played it on the piano. Strange coincidence that they had it, but I'm glad to be able to play it now and think of Jeanne.

YAY! on the library. I used to always forget that you can borrow books and I'd go out and buy them all... :)
I love "lullaby" by Billy Joel. What a beautiful funeral song... (sniff, sniff)
I know - I always forget about the library, too (and I used to work there). Some books I want to own, but since I know this one is somewhere in our house, it really didn't make sense to buy another copy. Now I just have to see if I can get it back on time! I'm sure I'll read it on time, but I'm horrible at returning things to the library.
