Pittsburgh trip

We had a nice weekend in Pittsburgh - visited The Mattress Factory museum, the Carnegie Science Center, ate dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, and visited the Pittsburgh Zoo on Sunday before coming home. Kate's favorite thing on Saturday was the Tom & Jerry cartoon projected on a pile of match boxes. She also liked the room with all the dots and mirrors. Alex's favorite was James Turrell's dark piece, "Pleiades" where you're in a completely pitch dark room and your eyes start to play tricks on you with a faint light at the other end of the room. He found it relaxing (I find the dark strains my eyes). Kate's favorite animals at the zoo were the kangaroos, which you could pet if they came over and chose to be pet, but they didn't.

Kate and Alex (separately) outside the Carnegie Science Center with the Pittsburgh skyline in the background.

Kate next to a gorilla who seemed to find her interesting.
