The inspection of the new house was yesterday. We had a very thorough inspector, which is good, but freaked me out a bit with lots of little things. There are a couple of major issues that we'll have to repair right away (carpenter ants, electrical problems, and a back door that doesn't lock). By the way, check your breaker box to make sure it's not a Federal Pacific. Apparently they are known to cause fires (see this site for more info). Our new house has one so we'll need to have it replaced.

Here are a few more pictures of the house, taken yesterday.

Front of the house - turns out we have a beautiful flowering cherry tree to the right, and out of view to the left is a tulip tree.

1/2 bath off of the family room

Full master bath (oh yeah!)

Alex's room (he wants to paint it white)

Kate's room - the hot pink walls are just her style

cool!

Our house had former carpenter ant damage, too, but the owners disclosed it. I think I'd be sure to have a specialist out. I'd ask the sellers to cover it since they didn't disclose it...
